Cosmic Jumps

Medium: Angustifolia bamboo stems, Angustifolia bamboo splits, LED strips, proximity sensors, ESP32 microcontroller

Inspired by the Eye of Horus, an ancient symbol of balance, protection, and wholeness that I grew up around, Cosmic Jumps asks what balance feels like in the body, rather than just what it looks like.

The piece is a trampoline installation built with angustifolia bamboo. It plays with the idea that time is elastic. When you jump, a moment stretches, hangs, and slows down. Time becomes something felt through movement.

The piece responds to its participants. When one person jumps, the movement triggers the lights. When two people jump together, the lighting shifts as they fall into rhythm with each other. Connection becomes something you can see, and you only get there by playing together.
